GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE): | |||
The Technology Support Specialist works in coordination with the Technology Systems Administrator and Disrict Technology Team to provide support and technology services to Algonquin Regional High School. The Technology Support Specialist performs system maintenance and repairs and basic troubleshooting of the building network. The Technology Support Specialist advances technological innovations while maintaining technology equipment and must be comfortable interacting with all staff. | |||

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO): | |||
• Provide technical support for the school buildings • Keep equipment and software in good working order, organized, and neat • Troubleshoot and make basic repairs to equipment including printers, laptops, Chromebooks and other District owned equipment. • Help staff members troubleshoot problems related to network services • Assist all staff with technology support as needed • Maintain local area network • Maintain inventory and location of hardware and software • Perform periodic maintenance on equipment • Perform periodic cleaning of lab computers and carts • Arrange for repairs when appropriate • Maintain network resources • Oversee technology supplies • Attend technology meetings and/or training sessions as necessary • Set up equipment that is not contracted to be set up by outside vendors • Install software • Become familiar with software that is used by staff • Participate in district wide technology team under the direction of the Director of Technology • Other duties as assigned | |||
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: | |||
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for afterschool meetings. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building. May need to climb ladders on occasion. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
