To assist the lead faculty member in providing effective instruction in the Alternative High School to ensure students meet the high school requirements for graduation and are prepared for successful transition into the workforce or transfer to a post-secondary institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with the lead faculty to identify to determine course and instructional opportunities to meet identified outcomes. Provide individual assistance to students as needed; able to change instructional approach when warranted. Facilitating the procurement of course books, print materials and equipment as identified by the lead faculty. Assist in maintaining records of hours, student schedules, and other records as directed by instructor. Serve as a professional and supportive student role model. Support behavior management strategies using same emphasis and techniques as instructor. Assist instructor in scheduling appointments, monitoring tests, correcting papers, typing, filing, and other clerical tasks. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate Degree preferred. Excellent communication skills and an ability to relate well with people. Ability to maintain rapport with high school age students in a professional and engaging manner. Ability to work in a team environment, maintain strict confidentiality and security at all times concerning student records. Proficiency in computer skills and: word processing. Strong organizational skills and creativity.
Essential Functions
Tutor students using instructional objectives and lessons developed by the instructor. Assist students in the understanding and comprehension of the required materials.
