What are the responsibilities and job description for the CRT position at NORTHEASTERN HEALTH SYSTEM?
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Responds to all resuscitation calls and institutes appropriate respiratory interventions as needed.
Sets up equipment, medications and administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician; documents treatment, response, and progress in EMR daily when appropriate.
Provides respiratory therapy care for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, using the knowledge/skills unique to the requirements of each age group to ensure optimal patient care.
Changes nebulizers and humidifiers on nursing units and resets O2 flow as prescribed by physician and/or according to established protocols.
Performs diagnostic pulmonary procedures (EKG, Holter Monitor, PFT, ABG, etc.)
Sets up and monitors patients on continuous mechanical ventilation and makes changes according to established protocols or as ordered by the physician.
Observes patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds.
Provides health care instruction to patients and their families.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient’s comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient’s medical record.
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
Provides for proper cleaning and sterilization of all respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe patient care.
Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
Follows policies and procedures regarding attendance and work hours.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education CRT or RRT
Req. Certification/Registration License or certification as required. BLS, NRP, PALS, and ACLS within 6 months
Preferred Education Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Experience Recent respiratory therapy in the hospital setting
Provides respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians according to established standards and practices.
