JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for directing student and alumni services operations for the College of Optometry.
MAJOR DUTIES
Directs national recruitment for the College of Optometry’s professional doctoral program.
Manages the admissions process for the professional doctoral program, including review and summary analysis of all candidate files, coordination of interviews, facilitating meetings of the Admissions Committee, training faculty and staff members of the Admissions Committee and communication with candidates concerning admission. Responds to complex admissions questions.
Responsible for new student orientation; prepares materials and agenda; schedules rooms; coordinates meals and refreshments; manages events.
Provides accurate advisor information to current and prospective students, pre-professional advisors, and other interested parties.
Develops and implements College alumni communications and events.
Solicits external partnerships in support of student awards and donations to support student activities and alumni events.
Enrolls optometry students and conducts periodic degree audits for all bachelor’s and doctor’s degrees.
Provides academic counseling to all students; facilitate tutoring program designed for student success and retention.
Manages the award process for local, state, regional and national student financial aid scholarships and awards.
Researches, gathers data and prepares reports, presentations, publications, spreadsheets and tables.
Plans, prepares and produces college events and receptions.
Directs and coordinates student activities with student leaders.
Verifies examination eligibility for students for the National Board of Examiners.
Responds to a variety of alumni, faculty and staff requests and concerns.
Attends state, regional and national conferences.
Performs related duties as assigned.
The work is typically performed in an office with some sporadic travel for special events.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of varied management duties. The variety of tasks to be managed frequent interruptions and the requirements of a professional doctoral program contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to direct the college’s student and alumni services functions. Success in this position contributes to the recruitment and retention of doctoral students and to the success of college alumni relations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Annual salary $39,828.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
