Shipping Lead

POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform shipping and receiving duties in a manufacturing setting. Ensure accurate and timely shipping of Company products while maintaining detailed records.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: *

• Perform shipping and receiving duties.
• Support the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base.
• Responsible to make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
• Must report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.
• Required to forward a requisition for shipping materials to the Department Supervisor for approval.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: *
REQUIRED:

• Ability to perform but not limited to the following tasks, be familiar with and able to interpret packing slips, to acknowledge receipt of the goods and forward to purchasing.
• Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers.
• Must be capable of estimating weight, and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping.
• Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.
• Must be familiar with the most common material handling equipment and be a licensed forklift truck operator.

• Experience with UPS/FEDEX online software is desirable.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: *

• Manufacturing environment which requires precaution, training and safety equipment (including safety glasses, ear plugs, closed toe shoes, gloves, etc.).
• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts while performing job.
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
• Must be able to move and handle product without damage to the product.
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks while staying focused.
• Must be able to stand for eight (8) hours or more per day, with bending and twisting.
• Must be able to lift, push or pull up to fifty (50) lbs.
• Must be able to use hands and fingers, to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
• Must be able to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• This is a full time position, working hours will depend on shift assigned. Mandatory overtime, including weekends, may be required depending on work load.
