Job purpose
The Construction Laborer s duties include labor work related to road construction. This is an entry-level construction position with great opportunities for growth and advancement. Travel required 25% - 100% depending on the crew. Job posting for the 2023 construction season with anticipated season start in April 2023.
Duties and responsibilities
- Loads, transports, and unloads tools, equipment, and supplies required for each project
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Must be able to use all hand tools of the trade safely & proficiently
- Be able to do high-quality work at a fast pace
- Must be willing and able to work long hours & weekends
- Must be safety oriented at all times
- Strong work ethic (dependable, excellent attendance, trustworthy)
- Ability to work well with others
- Must have a reliable means of transportation
- Ability to operate some motorized equipment is a plus but will train
- All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Qualifications
- One year of construction experience preferred, not required
- Must possess a valid Driver s License
- Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
- Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
- Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
- May be required to work 60 hours, 6 days a week
Physical requirements
- Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
- Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments
- Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
- Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds
