What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oncology Nurse Practitioner position at Northern Light Health?
Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our Cancer Institute in Brewer, Maine. You will be joining an experienced and established team of (14) medical oncologists, (4) radiation oncologists, (3) pediatric oncologists and, (10) Nurse practitioners at the state-of-the-art Lafayette Family Cancer Institute. Responsible for managing and addressing direct patient care needs in the medical oncology ambulatory setting, this position will support the medical oncology team including, but not limited to, assessing patient status to ensure appropriate clearance for treatment, resolution of acute care orders, prescription refill management, consent management, and acute and non-acute assessment of patient needs while actively receiving infusion treatment. Complete patient visits as need for stable patients needing clearance for treatment, acute add-on patients, and unexpected provider absences. This provider position will be responsible for responding to rapid responses including, but not limited to infusion reactions, falls and other building-wide rapid responses as needed.

The Lafayette Family Cancer Institute, dedicated in 2009, is located approximately 3 miles from the main Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center campus, and is one of only two cancer centers in Maine to be a part of a formal collaboration with Dana-Farber Cancer Care Collaborative, having access to over (55) adult oncology clinical trials.

While oncology or related experience as an NP/PA is preferred, the center will consider all applicants with oncology or related experience as an RN or other role.
