What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Support Technician position at Northern Power Products, Inc.?
Summary:
· Assist with service and warranty in support of sales to OEM’s, service dealers, fleet, and retail customers and support Engineering with Application Reviews
Responsibilities:
· Support OEM’s in their application of purchased product & assist customers (both internal & external) with troubleshooting technical issues
· Performing hands-on technical work that may include engine installations, diagnosis, and repair
· Travel to customer sites – locally, nationally, & international when required or phone support to perform field repairs on customer equipment as required
· Complete service paperwork for billing, warranty, & required quality metrics
· Perform routine maintenance of company vehicles and equipment
· Read and interpret customer and internal engineering prints and specifications
· Provide technical support on Application Reviews for new OEM applications including instrumenting and performing tests
· Fabrication of prototype components when needed
· Failure analysis
· Maintain the level of technical training mandated by each of the manufacturers that the company represents
· Support the preparation & implementation of training for our customers
· Perform Hot-testing and EOL tests as needed prior to shipment of customer product.
· Core engine evaluation as needed to confirm core viability for rebuild process.
Qualifications:
Education:
· High School diploma or GED
· Technical Degree
· ASE Certified mechanic preferred
Special Requirements:
· Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner
· Engine and parts failure troubleshooting and analysis experience
· Knowledge of internal combustion engines mechanical and electrical systems
· Extensive knowledge of hand tool use & the ability to use calibrated measurement instruments
· General proficiency with computer and MS Office software
· Having fabrication skills is an advantage
· Having 3D CAD knowledge and experience is an advantage
· Able to lift 50 lbs
· Safety Conscious
· General knowledge of hand and power tool use
