Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY : The EHR Support Specialist is responsible for the ongoing support and continued implementation of Electronic Health Records software within client organizations. The EHR Support Specialist is expected to communicate effectively with direct client staff and to coordinate and utilize all aspects of the deployed EHR solutions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list, but rather to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) will be required to perform a variety of duties listed, including but not limited to:
Responsible for the training for all staff in EHR and supporting software. Provide ongoing support for staff as it relates to the EHR system.
Develop and design training materials that are specific for clinicians, clinical support staff, case managers, and any other staff who require training.
Manage, develop and keep up to date all functions of the EHR patient portal.
Responsible for support of EHR, working out all minor and major issues and bugs and documenting software solutions in the knowledge base for other support staff to use.
Work cohesively with EHR vendor Support/IT to keep all EHR and supportive software up to date, free of glitches, patched and running smoothly. In accordance with the IT/Clinical Strategic Plan and departmental policies and practices, identify systems and processes operating outside of the EHR and work to integrate those functions/applications in the EHR.
Responsible for collaborating with various members of the IT /Clinical team to continually improve user satisfaction.
Serve as a liaison between clinical, finance, and IT departments recommending software enhancements based upon evaluation and feedback from end users.
Monitor and troubleshoot all EHR interfaces with support from IT staff.
Support all information management efforts to provide integrity, security/confidentiality, and availability of NVIH data and abide by all HIPAA guidelines of practice.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for an employee to successfully perform their duties.
High School diploma, GED or equivalent; Associates degree preferred
Experience as a support team member for EHR software programs and working in successfully supporting the maintenance of mission-critical information systems; Experience training end-users on PC applications required.
ECW Program Experience Required.
Three (3) years experience in a clinical or medical billing position preferred.
EHR certified specialist training or certification preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, negotiations, working with software vendors and end users.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to speak publicly, such as conducting group trainings.
Proven ability to provide excellent customer service by anticipating customer needs and leaving them feeling satisfied with their experience.
Ability to think critically and provide relevant, realistic solutions to complex technical problems.
Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Reliable Transportation and ability to adhere to regular attendance.
