Northmarq is seeking an experienced Loan Portfolio Manager to join its Servicing department at the Minneapolis (Bloomington, MN) headquarters office. We provide capital solutions for owners of commercial real estate. With regional offices coast-to-coast, we are the nation’s largest privately held servicer and provider of commercial real estate debt and equity. We continually establish new standards of excellence in serving a nationwide client base while focusing on the importance of relationships and service.
Position Responsibilities:
Organization & Planning
  • Plan and schedule own workload to most efficiently meet daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual benchmarks
  • Create, distribute and monitor reports to lenders, regional offices, and management to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Develop and implement procedures and business processes; serve as an advisor to various procedure committees
  • Assist with department budget as needed
Execution and Direction
  • Manage team of 4-7 analysts responsible for, but not limited to: borrower requests (partial releases, assumptions, extensions, lease reviews, etc), property inspections, financial analysis, reserve disbursements, payment collection, and covenant monitoring
  • Review due diligence packages and case plans prepared by analysts to provide internal approval for borrower requests
  • Coach, direct and motivate staff through daily interaction and workload discussion
  • Develop, train and assess the competency of staff; serve as a mentor as well as a resource of technical knowledge
  • Provide ongoing feedback to analysts regarding their development and goals, with an annual summary
  • Collaborate with department leadership and Human Resources to hire, discipline and terminate staff
  • Provide premier customer service to lenders, borrowers and regional offices in a friendly and professional manner
  • Build lender relationships through industry conference attendance, lender visits, and networking
  • Serve on leadership teams and assist with formulation/execution of departmental policies, procedures, projects and strategies
  • Perform quality control to promote accuracy, identify development opportunities and establish consistency
  • Perform/lead other reasonable tasks/projects as assigned
What We're Looking For:
  • Four-year degree required, preferably with a major in real estate, finance, or business administration. MBA degree desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial loan servicing, finance or accounting with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities; ability to lead both independently and within a team, with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and assignments while meeting all deadlines
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to reflect the level of responsibilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy while maintaining a high level of output
  • Experienced and proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial real estate loan terminology including experience in credit analysis and underwriting
  • Demonstrated work ethic and willingness to work extended hours when necessary
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and lead through change at a fast-growing company
