Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has multiple openings for Mechanical Engineers or Principal Mechanical Engineers to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. In Vehicle Engineering, we develop manned and unmanned aircraft platforms for all programs in the Aeronautics Systems Sector.
These positions will be in Palmdale, CA and have the possibility to work multiple shifts:
These positions can be filled at either the Mechanical Engineer OR Principal Mechanical Engineer level.
Basic Qualifications for Mechanical Engineer:
Salary Range 2: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Monday - Thursday on a 4 day - 10 hours/day schedule. Alternate hours or shifts may be discussed
- Friday, Saturday, Sunday on a 3 day - 10 hours/day schedule (you will be paid for a 40-hour work week). Alternate hours or shifts may be discussed
These positions can be filled at either the Mechanical Engineer OR Principal Mechanical Engineer level.
Basic Qualifications for Mechanical Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field with 2 years of relevant experience OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field with 0 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in a 3D CAD related software in the development of aircraft parts and assemblies.
- Working knowledge of one of the following subsystems: electrical, hydraulics, fuels, fluids, mechanisms, or propulsion systems and/or experience with mechanical routing.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. This clearance must be obtained prior to employment and must obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to starting. This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field with 3 years of relevant experience OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of experience.
- Proficiency in a 3D CAD related software in the development of aircraft parts and assemblies.
- Working knowledge of one of the following subsystems: electrical, hydraulics, fuels, fluids, mechanisms, or propulsion systems and/or experience with mechanical routing.

- Experience using Unigraphics Nx or CATIA V5
- Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE) or 3-D model engineering definition.
- Experience with HarnesSys tool for schematic design.
- Experience in the design of bonded composite primary and secondary aircraft structures.
- Experience working on Special Access Programs
- Experience working on military aircraft
