Job Summary
The Rail Operator is responsible for moving and unloading rail cars according to established standard operating procedures and Canadian National Railway protocol. The Rail Operator, under direction of the Assistant Director of Operations, will move and unload rail cars in accordance with company priorities and timelines. Additionally, the Rail Operator is responsible for hauling from rail site to various locations. The Rail Operator must exercise safe equipment use and driving practices to ensure their safety and the safety of the public. The Rail Operator is responsible for compliance with Canadian National Railway, Department of Transportation safety rules and regulations, all company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
· Move and unload rail cars
· Haul bulk feed, grain, or fertilizer to and from rail site, mill, storage areas, customers, and vendors
· Complete required paperwork in an organized, accurate, and timely manner
· Utilize scale computer software for scaling in and out
· Perform equipment inspections daily reporting all defects, maintenance issues, and damage along with practicing safe load and unload procedures
· Follow standard operating procedures for load sampling and verification
· Responsible to overall cleanliness of the interior, exterior and mechanical workings of equipment
· Adhere to rail stie, company, vendor, and customer business conduct rules
· Provide and receive various forms of oral and printed communication concerning the movement and placement of rail cars
· Follow company safety procedures, and maintain an overall level of safety awareness when operating in the work environment

Job Qualifications
· Class A CDL with a valid DOT Medical Card
· Valid experience with hopper trailer/tractor
· Flexible and able to adapt to change
· Strong sense of teamwork and clear communication skills
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
· Ability to lift 60 pounds, climb ladders, and operate a pallet jack with 2,000 pounds of material
· Must meet all DOT requirements and comply with DOT rules and regulations
· High School degree or equivalent
· Conform to operating rules and safety procedures and maintain a high level of safety awareness in the work environment
