What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Planner/Engineer position at Northstar Aerospace?
Purpose:
Under minimal supervision prioritizes tasks to take the appropriate action
- Manufacturing Engineers/Planners conduct studies and administer the technical development of production processes.
- Develops and leads activities to enhance theoretical concepts (including Process Planning) to practical applications within the manufacturing environment such as equipment utilization, product mix, materials, human resources and/or technology advancements
- Updates set-up sheets and standard work instructions, ensures the recent versions are in use on the production floor
- Leads capital project/equipment installations including equipment layout, tool organization, material handling and storage
- Analyzes variances to standards, may conduct time studies and work simplification programs to ensure part processing standards are achievable
- Actively participates within the APQP/NPI process, specifically the development of PFMEA’s & Control Plans
- Support continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives on the Production floor (process flow, equipment layout, tool organization and storage)
- Actively participates within the “Zero Defect Teams”, coordinating and enabling cooperation between multiple disciplines within the organization, preparing presentation(s) as required
- Initiates (where applicable) and actively participates within the ECR process to ensure all changes are documented prior to implementation
- Actively participates including formal presentations to enhance Health and Safety
- Responsible to maintain the ENG Opens Issues document, identifying appropriate tasks to completion in a timely manner
Under minimal supervision prioritizes tasks to take the appropriate action
- Must have 2-5 years of working experience.
- Effectively communicates with suppliers, operational & technical staff including executive management
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy is required, specifically MS Office, Computer Aided Design (NX, SOLIDWORKS/Catia 5) as well as various ERP software programs
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline is preferred
