Oversees the patient experience, quality of care, and the financial performance of nursing department. Oversees related strategic and operational activities and functions. Directs all patient care, professional, and support functions. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and maintains quality standards.
Job Responsibility
*Strategic Planning
Develops and oversees and implementation of strategic plans to ensure patient satisfaction, quality care, and financial goals are met.
Evaluates and measures the nursing department's performance against the organization's strategic goals and objectives for the delivery of quality patient care.
*Resource Management
Manages all business operations of the annual operating budget and capital expenditure plan.
Recommends, implements and evaluates approved changes to meet the standards of care ensuring compliance with patient census, including, but not limited to, budgeting, staffing, equipment needs and operating plans.
*Operational Performance
Directs and oversees all day-to-day operations of Areas-of-Responsibility (A-of-R).
Directs hospital-wide performance improvement programs including planning of systematic and strategic goals and objectives for the measurement, assessment and improvement of patient care.
Maintains effective liaison among the medical staff, administration, and all other hospital departments.
*Technology
Participates in review and analysis of current and future needs assessments of equipment, systems and software to ensure optimal service outcomes.
*Standards Compliance
Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations of Federal, State and local governmental agencies and with the standards, rules and regulations of the various accrediting and approving bodies such as JCAHO, OSHA, and the NYS Department of Health.
*HR Development
Promotes programs and systems to grow employee engagement.
Ensures communications and interactions reflect a culture of caring, innovation, teamwork, integrity and quality.
*Business Development
Provides continuing assessment of health care needs to ensure continued implementation of the hospital's and the System's mission, vision and values.
*Research
Creates an atmosphere conducive to information sharing and effective assessment that allows for real time research and adaptive behavior.
Performs related duties, as required.
*ADA Essential Functions
Job Qualification
•Master's Degree in Nursing or related field, required. Either Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree must be in Nursing.
•Doctoral degree, preferred
•Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
•Minimum of ten (10) years progressive nursing management experience, required.
•Advanced interpersonal skills, required. Excellent communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills, required.
