Processes approved requests for medical and non-medical products and services. Searches and recommends products and services that are of better quality, easier to acquire and lower in price/cost. Reconciles invoices against purchase orders. Evaluates vendor performance.
Job Responsibility
- * Under the direction and supervision of management, processes all requests for products and services (both medical and non-medical), as may be needed and approved by various hospital departments.
- * Searches continually for improved and/or less costly materials and supplies within the areas assigned. Recommends to the Director of Purchasing new or different materials and revised designs which are of better quality, more easily acquired, or which can be obtained at lower cost.
- * Advises personnel originating requisitions on such matters as type of material, equipment or supply suitable to specific needs; substitutes or alternatives; availability, and suggested vendors and costs. Advises departments of lead-time required to obtain critical materials.
- * Obtains and reviews bids from vendors. Routinely issues requests for quotations for items not covered by current purchasing agreements. Responsible for selecting and maintaining sources of supply, using progressive purchasing techniques and methods.
- * Reconciles invoices with Accounts Payable Department when price and other items do not agree with the purchase order.
- * Meets with sales representatives. Develops most suitable purchasing arrangements for commodities, including contracts, standing orders, and vendor stocking arrangements.Negotiates vendor rejections and advises vendor of reasons for rejection and costs incurred.
- * Evaluates vendor performance based on knowledge of prices and deliveries as well as information received from affiliates relative to product acceptability and vendor service.
- * Consolidates annual requirements for commodities common to several use points. Attends meetings to keep abreast of market trends, product development, etc
- Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field, preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience as an industrial buyer. Minimum of three (3) years experience in a health care purchasing environment.
- Ability to operate a computer terminal, required
- Ability to communicate effectively.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
The salary range for this position is $27.29-$28.72/hour
