Job Description
Directs and oversees the Child Life programs including new initiatives, and strategic goals and objectives for the unified divisions and assumes academic responsibility in accordance with the standards of clinical practice of the child life council. Oversees budgetary expenses for programs and prepares annual program budget.
Job Responsibility
- Leads the Child Life group by communicating with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function or geographic area.
- Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.
- Develops new initiatives and strategic goals and objectives for the unified divisions and academic responsibility.
- Allocates funds and oversees department expenses to ensure operation is within budget constraints.
- Develops and oversees the child life programs.
- Evaluates current research and introduces new knowledge into clinical practice.
- Coordinates reciprocal in-service education, consultation and interdisciplinary student teaching.
- Ensures programs are developed in accordance with the Standards of Clinical Practice of the Child Life Council.
- Develops grants and proposals for funding special programs; evaluates program performance.
- Participates in the development of policy and procedures for the Divisions of Child Life and Education Services and the Department of Pediatrics.
- Reviews staffing patterns and program performance to ensure efficient and effective programming.

Job Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Current Child Life Specialist Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 8-12 years of relevant experience and 7 years of leadership / management experience, required.
