The Security Specialist is responsible for consistently monitoring the security, safety, and integrity of Northwest by learning the surveillance, access control, and, alarm systems to provide assistance to the Security Technicians. This position monitors all building activity for potential safety and security risks while coordinating activities at the security front desk. This position coordinates work orders, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of equipment and coordinates appointments and deliveries. The Security Specialist administers campus and remote visitor and vendor management system and answers the telephone and direct calls appropriately.

Essential Functions
* Ensure compliance with disaster recovery plans
* Ensure compliance with physical security regulations
* Ensure knowledge of regular personnel whereabouts
* Organize and clean Front Desk area/facilities
* Prepare, maintain, and distribute completed logs and reports
* After-hours alarm activity response and troubleshooting
* Monitor security system activity and notifications
* Administer daily equipment audits, testing, and reporting
* Manage semi-annual, quarterly, and monthly security system and user reports
* Administer access control credentials
* Use surveillance to investigate alarm incidents
* Administer user PINs and change employee authorization levels
* Manage campus visitor notifications and provide visitor support
* Manage remote receptionist system to maintain security for other corporate offices
* Creating and maintaining employee ID badges and vendor badges
* Process security user access requests and assist with device distribution
* Maintain sufficient coverage of phone calls to the Security Helpline
* Alert appropriate authorities to suspicious activity and/or potential risks
* Coordinate reservations of the company vehicles and provide monthly report
* Coordinate response activity for emergencies and assist with evacuations
* Manage lost and found inventory
* Provide backup assistance to the Work Order system
* Monitor and finalize completed Security work orders
* Collect and distribute paperwork, mail, and interoffice envelopes as they are received
* Receive, verify, and track 9-1-1 calls
* Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations
* Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency
* Work as part of a team
* Work with on-site equipment
* Complete other duties and special projects as requested by management

Preferred Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Work Experience
2 - 6 years Security Center experience and
2 - 6 years Lobby/Front Desk experience or
3 - 5 years Law enforcement administration experience
