Accounting Specialist/Cashier (1 or more positions available)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive and receipt all money received by the college.
• Prepare daily close out and summary of cash register receipts.
• Perform BankMobile duties.
• Prepare and make daily deposit(s).
• Maintain college HOLD accounts.
• Maintains cash receipts records, credits receipts to proper accounts.
• Responsible for processing parking tickets and parking decals.
• Analyze accuracy and maintains student accounts receivable records such as posting payments and necessary adjustments/corrections.
• Perform general clerical and accounting duties for accounts payables, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Assist the Accountants in maintaining and balancing accounts.
• Switchboard operator - provide general information and transfer calls.
• Prepare miscellaneous reports and projects as needed.
• Assist with filing and general clerical duties.
• Serve as backup cashier on both campuses.
• Assist in reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
• Sort and distribute campus mail and post outgoing mail.
• Scan and index documents for the Business Office.
• Occasionally serve as backup courier for mail between campuses.
• Complies with all policies and procedures of the Alabama Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and the College.
• Self-Training – (Webinars as well as FAQ) in TouchNet, BankMobile, Department of Ed., etc.
• Other duties as assigned by Comptroller or Accountants.
• Provide customer service and general information to students.

Qualifications

• One (1) year (32 semester hours) of postsecondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, or other related business field, required.
• Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, or other related business field, preferred.
• One year of related work experience, required.
• Experience in the use of Banner educational software, preferred.
