About this position:
Distribution Operations Control Manager will lead in the advancement and management of the Distribution Operations Control (DOC) functions and oversee the organization, processes and procedures necessary for monitoring and controlling, and ultimately directing the operation of all of our electric and gas distribution systems in Montana and South Dakota. This position will manage a staff of supervisors, mobile dispatchers, distribution system controllers, and engineers.

About this job:
- Continue to develop and progressively implement electric distribution monitoring and controlling functions in coordination with the Asset Management, Business Technology, Human Relations and other departments
- Budget, plan and schedule for internal staffing, training, consultants and other costs necessary to advance DOC functionality and execute DOC work responsibilities
- Manage department employees in the execution of DOC functions
- Act as an effective Company liaison to vendors and consultants associated with developing and advancing DOC functionality
- Proactively contribute to a positive customer experience and assist in conflict resolutions
- Ensure a safe working environment for all employees
- Ensure work and functions are safely performed and in compliance with all regulations as well as Policies and Procedures published by NWE
- Perform special assignments for new Company or Distribution Operations initiatives as assigned.
- Travel is required up to 20% of the work time
- This position will also be required to be "on call" for afterhours operations and emergencies

- Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
- Supervisory experience desired
- Engineering degree and experience in Transmission/Distribution systems operations is desired
- Must have knowledge and experience with transmission/distribution system operations
- Must have knowledge of utility regulation policies (FERC, DOT, etc.)
- Working knowledge of PSC rules and tariffs and their application to customers
- Able to apply Company Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
- Labor relations experience is advantageous
- Effective administrative and leadership skills are required as well as excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven track record as a change agent with skills and experience for innovation and implementation of new programs, technologies, systems and procedures is essential.
