Responsibilities
This pharmacy manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of competent and efficient patient-centered pharmacy services and drug delivery, and to provide leadership and management of medication use processes. The pharmacy manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring performance improvement goals and any subsequent process changes that result. This individual is also responsible for administrative duties assigned by the pharmacy director to assist in the overall success of the pharmacy department. This leader works autonomously to manage pharmacy processes and ensure optimal delivery of care. With responsibility for the overall operational and clinical (if appropriate) management of their department(s), this leader facilitates the development and delivery of excellence in service practice by evaluating and coordinating the services delivered. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to direct the services appropriate for the patient/family population being served. Integrates the department services with the hospital primary functions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Actively promotes supply chain initiatives, medication management initiatives, medication safety initiatives, medication formulary decisions, and P&T Committee decisions to ensure departmental compliance.
- Provides financial management of the pharmacy department to ensure satisfactory budget performance.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards of the pharmacy department.
- Provides clinical pharmacy and dispensing services to all inpatients and outpatients.
- Provides leadership to the pharmacy department to ensure optimal medication management outcomes.
- Hires new employees, orients, delivers performance appraisals, develops staff competencies, and maintains time and attendance.
Qualifications
Required:
- One year as a pharmacist and completion of an accredited Post Graduate Year-1 (PGY-1) residency, or 5 years as a pharmacist
- Bachelor Degree
- Pharmacist (KY)
Desired:
- Doctorate Degree
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist
