TITLE: Nutrition Van Driver
REPORTS TO: Director of Nutrition
JOB GOAL: To deliver supplies and food daily to designated buildings per established procedures as assigned by food service personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a valid Iowa CDL driver’s license.
Ability to maintain a good driving record.
Ability to read and comprehend labels, signs and written instructions.
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently.
Ability schedule and meet timelines required for delivery at designated buildings.
Ability to establish positive relations and work cooperatively with others.
Knowledge of basic mechanical operations of trucks and safety check procedures.
A past history of good attendance.
Good health as confirmed by required physical exams.
Physical condition that allows for the lifting of 50 pounds, the periodic pushing or pulling
of over 100 pounds.
Ability to work off a ladder, truck dock lift.
Ability to use dollies and hydraulic lifts efficiently and safely.
Ability to complete repetitious movement and constant moving, standing or walking for 8
hours per day.
Requires frequent walking bending, stooping and climbing.
Ability to climb steps.
Must be free of impairment of the use of a foot, leg, hand or arm, or other defects or
limitations likely to interfere with the ability to safely control a vehicle.
Ability to sit up right in a vehicle driver position for 2-4 hours at a time.
Must be able to meet all pre-employment physicals
EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED desired.
EXPERIENCE: Some related experience desired. (Driving and/or hauling.)
JOB PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities:
Drives truck to deliver such items as prepared meals, utensils, trays, transport carts, supplies, and other items associated with the Nutrition Department.
2. Picks up empty containers and other items associated with the preparation and
Serving of meals within the Nutrition Department and delivers those items to
designated locations.
Loads and unloads truck.
Picks up warehouse items at WDM Schools Warehouse, baked goods at Valley
High School, and returns to correct destination.
Receives, marks, stores, and rotates all items in storerooms, freezers, and coolers.
Maintains shipping/receiving documents according to procedure.
Prepares daily deliveries from storeroom/freezer/cooler to other sites.
Conducts inventory as assigned.
Cleans inside of truck. Performs routine maintenance on truck.
Responsible for safe handling and operation of vehicle and equipment.
Attends job related meetings, as assigned.
Promotes and reflects Nutrition Department standards of cleanliness, good
grooming, health and personal hygiene.
Adheres to no-smoking rule while driving, handling food carts or while in kitchens.
Follows good safety procedures in lifting and hauling heavy and/or hot
equipment/supplies.
Reports and mechanical defects and/or driving accidents to the Director of
Transportation immediately.
Attend job related meetings as assigned.
Reports any accident with food and/or equipment to the supervisor immediately.
Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, kitchen heat and freezer temperatures. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work days and hours to be established by supervisor. Wages and additional terms of employment to be arranged with the Board.
