What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Arena Manager - Norwich University position at Norwich University?
Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by supervising and supporting of Arena Operations and Maintenance at Kreitzberg Arena. Evening and weekend hours required.
Essential Functions
- Oversees and manages all facets of arena operations; to include building mechanical systems.
- Assures overall cleanliness of the Arena; to include locker rooms, benches, boards, and glass.
- Oversees building of regular season and summer ice surfaces. Supervises ice surface scribe-paint.
- Operates ice making machine as needed.
- Manages online arena ice schedule for all Norwich teams; to include ice rentals by outside groups. Makes ice rental charges.
- Coordinates daily schedules with Norwich hockey coaches on a continuing basis.
- Presents during all Norwich Varsity Hockey games.
- Manages and coordinates part time game staff; to include scorer, penalty box, and on-ice staff.
- Coordinates parking attendants for home games.

Coordinates with, and act as liaison to Visiting Teams and Coaching Staff.
- Assigns locker rooms.
- Works closely with Student Life to promote student involvement at the arena (i.e. intramurals, and student open skates).
- Ensures that the Norwich media station is set up prior to the hockey season.
- Manages light maintenance of the Zamboni: daily grease, charging batteries, check fluid levels and changes blades.
- Responsible for removal of ice at end of each season.
- Manages off-season schedule and performs setups for Norwich events at the arena.
- Establishes and maintains ongoing relations with departments on campus.
- Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental practices and procedures, and ensures employees do the same.

- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
- Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.

- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree or college coursework preferred.
- Experience in arena operations and maintenance is required
- Knowledge and experience of building ice, and related equipment, is required
- Knowledge of collegiate hockey games and tournaments required
- Possesses strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook)
- Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 50 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus
- Work evening or weekend hours
Environmental Conditions
- Indoor work in a hockey arena and outdoor work.
- High level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
