What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietary aide position at Norwood Crossing?
To assist the Clinical Dietitian with food service to the skilled nursing patients, so that each receives the correct diet at the specified time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Receive incoming phone calls and process all calls to extension 2661
- Work on the tray lines to assure accuracy and quality
- Review menus and have all items needed assigned to a station to prepare for service
- Oversee cleaning & sanitation apparatuses. Perform the process of dish sanitization and washing. Including but not limited to : dishes, pots, pans and silverware.
- Ensure proper set-up and break down of the line
- Check the trays for accuracy based upon diet ordered and resident's preferences
- Monitor the serving temperatures of food on the line
- Work in the dish machine area and continually monitor operating temperature / sanitizer levels of machine
- Update resident specials and bulk feeding sheets as necessary
- Work closely with the Clinical Dietitian and Production Manager to ensure maximum food quality.
- Ensure proper food serving temperatures on line
- Supervisor proper handling and portioning of food
- Monitor appearance and texture of foods served
- Monitor proper functioning of equipment necessary to provide quality food and services
- Monitor and report problems with menu to supervisor
- Orient and train employees
- Demonstrate procedures and use of equipment
- Apply basic standards of sanitation program to meet health regulations and Norwood Crossing standards and assure it is used with all employees
- Carry out safety measures for accident prevention
- Is aware of Norwood Crossing's Corporate Compliance policies including those having to do with confidentiality and security of information, and concerns for the well being of residents and patients.
Demonstrates behaviors and completes work in a manner consistent with these policies.
Other duties as assigned and appropriate.
Physical and Mental Demands :
- Ability to walk or stand 85% of time at work
- Able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Possess sight / hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional ability
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and / or lift a minimum of 25 pounds up to a max of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 4 feet unassisted and be able to push, pull move and / or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
Qualifications :
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members visitors, government agencies / personnel and the general public
- Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel
- Patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
- Willing to handle residents based on the maturity level at which they are currently functioning
