NDCL Academic Coach for Social Studies/History

The Opportunity: Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School, a thriving, coeducational Catholic college preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame, seeks a collaborative and engaging Academic Coach for Social Studies/History to challenge and support our students as they pursue academic excellence and prepare for lives of leadership and service. This position is ideal for a teacher new to the profession or a recent retiree who enjoys supporting students without the external demands of lesson planning and grading. The Academic Coach for Social Studies/History will work five days each week according to a schedule to be determined by the needs of the school and the availability of the coach. About the Academic Success Center: In its seventh year, the NDCL Academic Success Center provides access to individualized student coaching across the disciplines. The center, which is housed in the Sisters of Notre Dame Learning Commons, includes nine full time academic coaches who offer oneon-one and small group coaching sessions. Nearly 97% of NDCL students have an enhanced learning block, or ELB, as part of their academic schedule. Every ELB student has an assigned academic coach who meets with them regularly to check grades, monitor progress, offer organizational and time management support, and connect students to the resources they need to thrive.

• Professional expertise in linking curriculum, instruction, and assessment, especially as they relate to preparing students for college success

• Familiarity with current content standards for Social Studies/History and a contemporary approach to secondary education

• Skilled communicator and listener who demonstrates interest in building strong, supportive relationships with students and colleagues

• Motivated learner who continually seeks feedback and is excited to grow and learn professionally

• Natural collaborator who thrives on a team

• Flexible coaching style to adapt Social Studies/History learning strategies for a variety of learners

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in secondary education, social studies, or history

• Appropriate licensure from the State of Ohio

• Prior teaching experience is preferred
