What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Manager position at NOVA Parks?
The Pool Manager is responsible for the care, operation and maintenance of the pool facilities.
Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
Major Duties/Specific Tasks
- Ensures safe and proper operation of the waterpark complex by conducting routine inspections.
- Assists with hiring of waterpark staff.
- Supervises waterpark staff of lifeguards, assists with training and evaluation of lifeguard staff.
- Ensures proper water quality and standards of cleanliness.
- Monitors chemical controller units and lightning detection systems.
- Enforces safety standards.
- Assists with public relations by handling visitor inquiries and providing information and assistance to the Park Specialist.
- Conducts staff meetings and in-service training.
- May perform tasks as a lifeguard when needed.
- Inspects and ensures proper storage and use of pool chemicals.
- May assist with handling of all monies and associated paperwork.
- May assist with the management of food concession operations.
- Assists with routine maintenance/repair of equipment.
- Ensures safety of all pool patrons in and around the swimming pool.
- Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies.
- Informs swimmers and waterpark patrons of rules and regulations, and enforce as needed.
- Administers first aid to injured patrons.
- Maintains record logs on water quality, inspections, lifeguard testing, employee evaluations, visitation, saves, etc.
- Reports unsafe conditions to the Park Specialist or Supervisor on Duty.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Park Specialist or Supervisor on Duty.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Graduation from high school with a minimum of two years of leadership experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- Certification in Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (ILTP), Healthcare Provider Basic Lifesaving Support, and Standard First Aid.
- Certification or the ability to obtain certification as a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO).
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with staff and the public.
- Ability to learn the operation of the facility.
- Demonstrated supervisory and teaching skills.
- Knowledge of pool mechanical equipment and related materials.
- Ability to make minor repairs on pool equipment as needed.
- Ability to gain a working knowledge of NOVA Parks, its history, organization, rules and regulations.
- Availability to work during peak operating season.
- Working knowledge of computers.
- Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Availability to work a variable work schedule, which may include early and late hours, and weekends and holidays.
- Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
- Possession of or ability to obtain valid driver's license, must maintain safe driving record.
- Purchase of standard Pool Manager uniform required.
