What are the responsibilities and job description for the Soils Technician position at NOVA Services, Inc.?
NOVA Services, Inc. (NOVA) is a firm specializing in geotechnical engineering, special inspection, and materials testing services. Our clients include educational and healthcare institutions, private developers, as well as local, state, and federal government agencies. We have an opening for a Soils Technician in our San Clemente office.
The ideal candidate must possess the either a BS in Civil Engineering or Geology or an ICC Soils Inspector certification.
Requirements include:
- Knowledge and understanding of construction documents and code requirements
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to implement the recommendations of the geotechnical report
- Basic computer skills in order to prepare and submit daily reporting electronically (Knowledge of an electronic submittal system a plus)
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with contractors, owner's representatives, project inspectors, IORs, and other team members
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License, a clean driving record, and $100K vehicle insurance
- Must possess a valid Nuclear Gauge/HAZMAT certification
Required certification includes a valid (within the last 3 years) nuclear gauge/HAZMAT certificate. Other desired certifications include Caltrans certification and/or HAZWOPER certification.
