What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Co-op position at Novanta?
The role is responsible for supporting critical financial processes and projects being led by the Corporate Finance team, which are aligned to overall Company priorities and initiatives. Areas of responsibility will include consolidation and reporting of the financial performance of Novanta’s business units, as well as aggregation and review of key performance indicators in areas such as: sales, backlog, factory operations, profit margin improvement, cash flow performance, new product introductions, and other areas. This individual is expected to lead multiple business processes, and effectively analyze and troubleshoot the data, and be able to provide variance analysis and commentary. The candidate must be a “hand’s on” contributor who enjoys challenges and thrives in a demanding environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support financial planning and analysis processes company-wide, including budgets, forecasts, data consolidation, data analytics, and management reporting
- Support process improvements across global FP&A and Finance processes, driving efficiencies and improving decision making
- Support data analytics to Finance leadership and Company leadership in areas such as sales, backlog, margins, inventory, and other areas
- Support and lead other Corporate Finance processes as needed
Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently; hand’s on individual contributor
- Advanced MS Excel; basic experience with MS Powerpoint and MS Word
- Strong written, verbal, analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
- Some financial, analytical, and modeling skills preferred
- Experience with Enterprise Performance Management tools (HFM, Oracle EPM, etc.) is a plus
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to obtain up to date Covid-19 vaccination status per the current CDC guidelines prior to employment start day (full vaccination dose and booster, if eligible).
- During current pandemic restrictions, this position will be done remotely
- If pandemic restrictions are lifted, candidate needs to be able to commute to Bedford, MA
