What are the responsibilities and job description for the Risk Analyst (Night Shift) position at Novo?
About Us:
Novo is seeking an inquisitive, motivated, and agile Risk Analyst to join our banking revolution. You will have a position that is paramount to the daily operations of a digital bank. This person will work in Novo’s operational risk team, and work cross-departmentally to ensure that our platform can continue operating in an efficient manner while minimising downside losses and reducing friction in the onboarding process. You’ll be integral to keeping our wheels turning!
Your role at Novo:
- The analyst must have a good understanding of KYC and AML processes.
- The key responsibility of this role is to support the origination and in-life management of deposits by handling the Customer/Enhanced Due Diligence at the time of on-boarding and in-life periodic reviews.
- Processing all applications through a workflow system effectively, within agreed SLAs and OKRs, and in line with company policies and procedures.
- Perform the due diligence check on prospective and existing customers, such as requesting KYC information and documentation
- Conduct enhanced due diligence on high risk customers, for example, evaluate client's response to sources of wealth and intended use of account
- Investigate identified suspicious client generated by the screening system, such as WorldCheck, OFAC list etc
- Analyze the AML/CFT risk of Politically Exposed Persons (PEP), adverse information, business exposure in high risk & sanctioned countries and escalate the issues to Legal Team for approval
- Follow internal policy and procedures when dealing with account related suspicious activity
- Cross reference multiple databases for potential undesirable client matches

Required Qualifications & desired skills:
- Minimum bachelor's degree, preferably in business, economics, finance, or other technical disciplines
- 1-3 years experience working in the financial services/banking industry as an analyst preferable
- Comfortable working in rotational US Shift
- Ideally specific experience working in U.S. markets, in a fin-tech/tech company, or both
- Ability to think outside the box, work with limited data, and find solutions to unorthodox problems
- Ability to oversee critical analytics projects from end to end independently
- An interest in financial crime must be excited with the idea of digging deeper, looking into customer behaviours and identifying key characteristics of fraudulent users
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced work environment and culture
- Ability to work cross-departmentally, without the need for extensive hierarchical corporate structure
- An inquisitive and highly detailed oriented work ethic
- Understanding of the AML/KYC concepts.
- Experience of Screening/Data mining using different search engines in prior roles
