Position Summary
The paralegal is a position within the Legal & Risk Department and reports directly to the Assistant General Counsel
Position Responsibilities
- Reviews, revises, and drafts legal documents for company-wide business units, including but not limited to engagement letters, requests for proposal, supplier and vendor contracts, NDAs, and related documents and correspondences
- Answers requests for conflict-of-interest reviews, successor firm document requests, and travel approval reviews
- Prepares and formats legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, initial and amended articles of incorporation, closing papers and binders, deeds, and trust instruments for review, approval and filing
- Creates, prepares, and maintains document templates such as letters, contracts, pleadings, etc.
- Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, composing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail
- Acts as librarian, monitoring and ensuring that contracts and legal documents are up-to-date.
- Files correspondence and legal documents in office filing system.
- Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
- Coordinates the weekly Legal & Risk Department team meeting
- Organizes and maintains case and file trackers
- Organizes, maintains and updates legal department files systems and corporate records in a logical and systematic manner
- Prepares material for in-house and outside distribution
- Keeps track of case/matter deadlines.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on the ability to interpret complex policies and law and translate them clearly
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, thoroughness and accuracy
- Strong problem solving/analysis skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities
- Strong customer service-oriented skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive work-related information
- Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite (i.e Word, PowerPoint, and advanced skill in Excel)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related area plus 3-4 years of work experience, and/or appropriate balance of education and work experience. Paralegal certification highly preferred.
