We are seeking a skilled and motivated Application Scientist to join our team focused on enzyme modified cheese (EMC). The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments in the lab, supporting EMC customers and collaborating closely with our counterpart in Denmark and the R&D team. This role requires a strong background in food science, dairy technology, or a related field, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

We are a crucial part of the global Dairy and Dairy Alternatives, Applied R&D team for Food & Beverage Biosolutions. Located in the North American regional application center in Milwaukee, WI, we collaborate closely with our global counterparts in France and Denmark. Our mission is to provide technical support to our customers, driving new product development and advancing technical competencies. We work daily with the Field Technical team to address customer requests, ensuring the analytical support needed to demonstrate the benefits of Novonesis ingredients. In This Role, You'll Make An Impact By
- Implement new methodology and drive the implementation/write the Standard Operating Procedure.
- Design and conduct experiments to develop and optimize EMC products in collaboration with applied R&D cheese DK team. Ensuring calibrations and maintenance of analystical laboratory equipment.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare detailed reports
- Ensure all lab activities comply with safety regulations and quality standards. Leading daily activites and providing technical education to junior lab technicians.
- Providing customer and technical support to EMC customers and account manager colleagues using enzyme and/or culture solutions. This includes troubleshooting customer issues, conducting production demonstrations and supprorting customer trials.
- Collaborating with a variety of stakeholders including EMC scientist counterpart in Denmark to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing, R&D team to support new product development and improvement initiatives and Commercial Development to develop EMC business.
- Participate in relevant creative sessions and submit ideas to the relevant project review groups.ting:
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of experiments, customer interactions, project progress, technical documents, technical reports and presentations.
- Contributing to the development of technical literature and marketing materials.
- Ability to read, write and speak English is a requirement of this position.
- Master’s degree (3-5 years of experience) or PhD (1-2 years of experience) in food science, dairy technology, or a related field
- Proven experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within the dairy or food industry; preferably skilled in chromatography methods.
- Strong understanding of enzyme technologies and their applications in EMC and cheese; preferred experience working with EMC products.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with international teams and customers.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite and laboratory software (ELN, SAP, LIMs, Chromeleon, Minitab, Lucullus).
- Preferred qualifications include familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards in the food industry and prior experience in customer support or technical service roles.
