What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at NP Services?
This role will work on the 2nd shift from 4p - 2:30a Monday to Thursday and potentially 1/2 days on Friday.
In addition, this person will train on 1st shift 6a - 4:30p for two weeks.
SUMMARY
Tends fabricating machines such as presses, forming machines, and welders that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes and structures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for visual inspection of all parts that are produced on the assigned machine using micrometers and gauges.
- Read work instructions to determine proper operation and material requirements.
- Measure work-piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation using all instruments necessary.
- Stack, mark, and pack finished product or related assembly components.
- The operation of continuous high speed machinery, producing customer ordered products or related assembly components.
- The qualification of all necessary or required specifications and related documentation as instructed to maintain all operating and safety standards.
- Load machinery with necessary raw materials.
- Maintain a clean work area.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to write simple correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand; walk; sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Clean and well lighted environment and manufacturing floor.
