Position Location – Office will be located in Cudahy, Wisconsin

Reporting Relationship – Reports directly to the Director of Quality & Operational Excellence

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and manage the NPS Corp T&T Quality Management System to meet (ISO 9001:2015, cGMP (CFR Title 21) and contract converting quality agreement(s) retail and away from home guidelines
  • Communicate quality issues to all hourly and salaried employees
  • Maintain a functional lab to include that samples are being accurately measured, recorded and data is logged both manually and electronically; ensuring lab equipment is calibrated internally and documented; ensure lab equipment meets annual certification requirements and provide documentation of 3rd party; and inspection/compliance; and ensure lab capabilities meet internal and contracted quality agreements with NPS Corp customers. 
  • Coordinate trials (new finished product, finishing and raw materials), evaluate performance and communicate the results via trial report
  • Facilitate initial quality onboarding and annual certification training of all hourly and specified salaried employees
  • Lead the investigation into customer complaints in support of the facility of origin, determine the root cause and communicate findings to leadership team with proposed corrective actions
  • Perform variable and physical testing on finished product, finishing and raw materials as needed to support the business
  • Perform finished product, finishing and raw material audits to verify conformance to specifications
  • Manage the Quality Index as measure of performance to standard, reporting findings monthly, quarterly and annually for review by the leadership team.  Propose corrective actions and strategies to improve gap performance
  • Serve as a point of contact for vendors concerning their materials and internally in regard to quality related activities
  • Track vendor progress and evaluate performance to meet standards
  • Develop and maintain specifications on all products produced, received or converted
  • Compile data from testing and track performance of equipment, products and raw materials
  • Compose, implement and train all employees in Quality Assurance policies and procedures as needed
  • Track and record non-conforming finished product, finishing and raw materials weekly, verify visual labeling, count and test to confirm non-conformance of material (if it is a testable attribute).  Communicate to leadership team for direction on disposition of material
  • Attend conference calls / meetings to relay information to contract converting customers, retail customers or when directed by leadership team.  Provide technical information on products converted using different papers in the corporation
  • Collect Samples for competitive audits
  • Inspect samples prior to shipping to Marketing and Sales per request for trade shows or customer consultations
  • Represent NPS Corp T&T Division to the highest levels of professionalism
  • Perform machine inspections for root cause of quality issues
  • Inspect for Date Codes to be present on all cartons / cases produced
  • Occasional travel to other locations
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in a paper converting and/or manufacturing, Mill Maintenance required
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
  • Be able to work alone with little or no supervision
  • Ability to make independent judgement calls
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools and practices
