Position: Crane Operator / Material Handler
Location: St Louis, MO
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This opening is for a teammate that will perform material movement in a plate steel warehouse and processing facility. The primary function of the role is loading/unloading of trucks, stocking/restocking of plate steel utilizing a bridge crane and/or forklift. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Follow all company policy procedures and be vigilant in watching for potential risks in the area and notify management of deficiencies identified.
Attend all training and safety meetings as directed.
Perform daily housekeeping and material organization in assigned areas.
Successfully perform tasks with the use of bridge cranes that are 3–5-ton capacity.
Successfully perform tasks with the use of a propane sit down forklift that are 6000-pound capacity.
Perform daily inspection of forklift and crane, pendulum control unit, wire ropes and other accessory equipment.
Performs the unloading/loading of trucks, stocking and transferring of material with the use of a dual hoist bridge crane and/or standard forklift.
Immediately report all deficiencies found and unusual noises and/or difficulties in operation of the equipment.
Always aware of co-workers and visitors in the area to ensure the safety of all.
Assist with stock checks and physical counts as directed.
Perform other tasks when needed or directed.
Assist in training co-workers as requested.
SKILLS:
High level of attention to detail.
Knowledge of crane capacities, accessory equipment, rigging and ability to move large sized and/or unusually shaped steel plate in a safe manner.
Ability to calculate weights of material.
Strong verbal communication skills.
The ability to read a tape measure.
EXPERIENCE:
Requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent, at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with safe work practices, and procedures.
