What are the responsibilities and job description for the Home Care Registered Nurse position at NSTAT?
We are searching for a reliable and compassionate home care nurse to join our team. The home care
nurse’s responsibilities include performing patient visits and monitoring their conditions, conducting tests,
and writing reports for the physician. You should be able to address all the caregivers’ concerns and make
appropriate adjustments to the patients’ in-home management plan. To be successful as a home care nurse,
you should be a nurturing individual who can handle a wide range of tasks Outstanding candidates possess the mental strength and resilience to care for patients and are also able to
- provide emotional support to family members if required.
- Managing a patient’s healthcare plan according to the Physician’s instructions
- Checking temperature, blood pressure, pulse and other vital signs
- Administering and maintaining a record of all prescribed medication
- Checking for infection, bedsores and wounds in the patient
- Educating and advising Caregivers in the household
- Dressing or redressing wounds and assessing the progress of healing
- Developing and improving the healthcare plan in collaboration with other healthcare personnel in
- the household
- Providing palliative care as needed to keep the patient comfortable
- Make recommendations for devices ot tools that might improve the patient’s quality of life
- Traveling to patients’ homes and managing their care plans according to physicians’ instructions.
- Administering medication and insulin, and completing blood pressure, glucose, urine, and stool
- tests.
- Inspecting wounds, changing dressings, and handling personal grooming and hygiene.
- Testing for muscle weakness, bedsores, and any signs of infection.
- Listening to the concerns of family members and answering their questions.
- Educating caregivers and family on the aftercare or ongoing care of the patient.
- Providing suggestions for improved healthcare to physicians and family members of the patient.
- Monitoring patient recovery and compiling reports for the physician.
- Keeping abreast of developments in healthcare and attending workshops and lectures as required.
- Collaborating with doctors and other healthcare professionals to develop improved diets and healthcare plans for patients.
Pay: $51.00 - $54.00 per hour
