Production Engineer

General Statement of Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing engineering support to Plant production departments through continual improvement of machinery and processes. 

Essential Duties:

1. Oversees development of improvements to existing processes. Coordinates projects between Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and other personnel to make these improvements.
2. Develop capital project objectives, write project specifications, develop layouts, obtain quotations and formulate proposal documents including summary of costs and benefits, project schedule, and spending plan.
3. Maintain project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, resolving problems, & recommending corrective actions.
4. Basic knowledge of setup and operation of equipment and ability to coordinate new process development and  training. 
5. Write standard work instructions using Microsoft Office products with established templates for setup, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, & lockout/tagout of new and existing production equipment.
6. Develop/recommend quick changeover methods and tooling.
7. Analyze methods and develop concepts to reduce direct, indirect, and set-up labor.
8. Analyze, recommend and coordinate implementation of profit improvement programs.
9. Analyze material handling (current state) and recommend improved methods and equipment.
10. Knowledge of work measurement methodology. Assist with development of new or updating existing production standards.
11. Knowledge of safe manufacturing practices necessary for recommendation and implementation of safety programs.
12. Knowledge of Statistical Problem Solving principles and application.
13. Able to interact with other departments and personnel and natural ability to be a team player.
14. Support the Plant quality systems/goals & productivity goals/improvements within the scope of the job.
15. Support the Plant safety programs/goals within the scope of the job.
16. Regular and predictable attendance.
17. Compliance with Company, Corporate, State, and Federal regulations.

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in an appropriate engineering discipline (Manufacturing, Production, Mechanical, Industrial) is preferred; or a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Technology plus zero to two years of manufacturing experience. Prefer 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience.
