What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sheet metal Lead position at NuAire, Inc.?
Performs any combination of tasks to set up and operate most types of sheet metal machines including power press brakes, power shears, power and CNC punch presses, S-4, P-4, corner former and apron brake to shear, punch and form metal or other stock. Assembles, aligns and installs tooling to specifications using feelers, shims, templates or other items as required by each part. Adjusts or programs machines for each item in accordance with shop routing and mechanical drawings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education / Experience
1. High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. VoTech training and/or five years of experience.
B. Specific Job Knowledge
1. Familiar with 100% of the fabricated parts.
2. Can operate 100% of the equipment or is extremely proficient at one of more machines.
3. Assists supervisor (see job description addendum for group leader/lead person).
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Duties
1. Sets up and operates most types of sheet metal machines.
2. Read and interpret all shop routing and mechanical drawings.
3. Plans, lays out and performs all types of sheet metal operations.
4. Fabricates all standard and non-standard parts with close tolerances.
5. Lays out complex designs using shop mathematics.
6. Selects and uses proper tooling.
7. Programs all types of sheet metal machines.
8. Instructs fabrication procedures.
9. Assists in technical problem solving.

C. Responsibility
1. Work with a minimal amount of supervision.
2. Record time on job assignments.
3. Complete job assignments on time.
4. Follow all safety rules; including using all recommended personal protection equipment.
5. Performs in-process and finished part inspection.
6. Instruct fabrication procedures.
7. Performs preventative maintenance of equipment.
