The Role

The Controller reports directly to the VP of Finance and is responsible for planning, directing, and leading all finance and accounting operational functions. This role will manage, train, and develop crew members and will partner across the organization to ensure the accounting and financial reporting success of the business.

What you'll do:

• Plan, direct and lead all finance and accounting operational and reporting functions.
• Manage, train, and develop accounting staff.
• Coordinate and complete monthly close and prepare financials.
• Assess and improve accounting operations, processes, and internal controls.
• Partner with other business functions to support and drive reporting and operational changes.
• Monitor, research and propose changes for new accounting pronouncements.Supervise payroll preparation and assist as needed.
• Manage income tax return preparation process.
• Oversee state business compliance.
• Manage ERP system.
• Assist with grant reporting and insurance applications.
• Assist with planning and analysis.

Your foundation

The requirements for this role:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
• We are always open to proven success and experience in lieu of a degree.
• Comprehensive understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.
• Keen ability to analyze and understand accounting systems and transactions to answer questions and solve problems concerning discrepancies and variances.

Additional capabilities that will differentiate you for this role:

• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
• Five years in a similar leadership role.
• Familiarity with NetSuite accounting software.
• Willingness and ability to adapt and problem solve within a high-growth environment.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a positive and inclusive environment.
