Position overview
In this role, you will be assisting the Property Manager. Ensure the property is maintained following Company standards and assure customer satisfaction. You will manage the property in the absence of the Property Manager.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Ensure that systems are aligned within HUD and state housing agency parameters.
- Maintain the affordable housing waitlist and process new move-in files.
- Responsible for the screening process of all applicants and ensuring they meet the HUD criteria.
- Rent collection, reporting, compliance, and eviction processes.
- Assist with apartment move-in and move-out inspections as scheduled.
- Manage internal and external relationships, exercising appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.
- Answer phones, take appropriate action, or direct calls.
- Process vendor invoices and purchase orders.
- Prepare amendments, extensions, and supporting schedules for maintaining rental assistance contracts (Section 8) and property management agreements.
- Conduct and assist with daily property inspections and periodic unit inspections.
- Maintain awareness of and adherence to the Fair Housing Act requirements and all applicable HUD regulations.
- Schedule and mail notification letters for annual and interim recertification of residents and accurately conduct recertification promptly.
- Meet with residents to resolve issues and complaints.
- Persistent follow-up on collections and past due balances.
- Assist in resident relations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and qualification
- Be proficient in all phases and requirements of HUD procedures.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Exceptional teamwork.
Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years experience as an onsite Assistant Property Manager or Leasing Consultant in multi-family housing, hospitality, or similar.
- HUD preferred.
- Experience with Yardi is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
- Basic salary with a transparent commission structure.
