RESPONSIBILITIES: Educators in this position are responsible to teach students in a high quality and engaging way and be prepared to do whatever it takes for students to excel. Create and foster a positive learning environment and exhibit positive relationships with students. Hold high expectations for each student while implementing the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus. Use data to inform instructional decisions and communicate results to families and colleagues. Provide individual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistance. Provide students with daily feedback on performance and plan for individual learning needs. Model the school's mission, vision and values in all communications with students, families, and staff. Commit to constant professional and personal growth through working closely as part of a team of educators. Participate in critical school events, including: staff meetings, open houses, parent teacher conferences and more.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required. Masters degree preferred. Current and active State Department of Education Secondary Education Certification in Spanish as specified and mandated by the State Department of Education. Dual certification in ESL preferred. At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience. Urban charter school teaching experience. Criminal background clearance (fingerprinting) required. Proof of U.S. Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Proficient in PowerSchool, Naviance, or other student management systems (SMS) required.
Nurses Middle College Capital Region (NursesMC™-CR) will implement the NursesMC™ model, created in 2011, as a solution to the critical nursing shortage and to ensure a diverse nursing/healthcare workforce prepared to improve health equity outcomes. The first school to implement the model, located in Providence, RI has received national and international attention for its innovative design, impressive student achievement, and positive impact on the community. NursesMC™-CR students receive a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, participate in health care internships, obtain an entry level patient care workforce certificate, and earn up to 16 transferable college credits towards a nursing/health care post-secondary degree. NursesMC™-CR is a non-profit school with a separate 501c3 designation with its own local Board, working with the supporting charter management organization, NursesMC™, to provide the model with fidelity to serve the students in their local communities, in this case, the Capital Region of New York.
