StaRN - Hospital Clinical Simulation Specialist - PRN

WHAT IS A HOSPITAL CLINICAL SIMULATION SPECIALIST?

A Hospital Clinical Simulation Specialist is responsible for maintaining and operating task trainers, mannequin-based simulators, and surgical simulators (at some sites) along with associated supplies and equipment.

THIS POSITION IS:

•     PRN

•     Monday-Friday 7:00am- 5:00pm

•     60/40 split between working in our Hospitals, Convention Centers, Hotels and Simulation Centers

•     Interviews Completed Virtually – Offers Made On the Spot

•     Possibility of Additional Overtime*

TO GET STARTED YOU WILL NEED

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

•     Laerdal LLEAP Software

•     Laerdal manikins (low to high)

•     Laerdal B-Line AV System

•     Multiple task trainers (IV Arms, Foley Trainers, Torso)

•     Learning Space AV software

•     Muse and Maestro CAE software

•     CAE simulator knowledge:

•     Apollo Prehospital, Apollo Nursing, Juno, Lucina and Luna 

•     IP Networking

•     Learning Management System or other LMS experience

•     AV use and troubleshooting

EDUCATION:

•     Certified HealthCare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred

EXPERIENCE:

•     Two or more years of experience working with simulation in an educational institution or equivalent setting preferred.

•     Interest in Simulation with experience in Computer Science, Instructional Technology or HealthCare

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

•    Operate and maintain simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized simulators, and virtual and/or augmented reality procedural trainers with the ability to follow medical aspects of scenarios, and make appropriate adjustments to technology systems.

•    Perform program maintenance and repair of the simulators, software, hardware and audiovisual equipment.

•    Be responsible for the orientation, training and ongoing support of simulation faculty and learners during simulation.

•    Act as a standardized patient (actor in the role of a patient) when needed.

•    Manage skills and simulation supplies.

•    Set up and maintenance of simulation lab and classroom.

•    Must be able to work a varied schedule.

•    Operation of audio-video recording systems across CAE and Laerdal platforms.

•    Provide appropriate guidance to learners and nursing staff in the simulation setting related to professionalism, practice, and research.

•    Coordinate skills learning activities.

•    Maintain current knowledge of the StaRN Nursing curriculum, policies, and requirements

•    Guide and Assist with American Red Cross skills competency

•    Guide, Assist and check off skills during the StaRN and StarTech programs as needed.

•    Provide feedback for Competency-Based Staged Orientation (CBSO).

•    Provide feedback on emerging technologies: Virtual Reality, Hybrid and Standardized patients.

•    Coordinate and review logistics for skills task trainers and simulation equipment per assigned cohort.

•    As needed, coordinate, schedule, review and document StaRN learner progress on assigned HealthStream learning modules.

•    Assembles simulation supplies/equipment to meet assigned training site objectives 

•    Package equipment and palletize for return delivery if necessary.

•    Other duties as assigned
