Technical Writer - Radiochemistry

Overview

Position Summary:

Nusano is offering an exciting opportunity for a Radiochemistry Technical Writer. Nusano is developing a radioisotope production facility near Salt Lake City, Utah, including the development of a particle accelerator, an advanced high energy beam transport system, and a complete targetry and radiochemistry program for producing radioisotopes. Throughout design and development, this team member will document technical requirements, design standards, and procedures for specialty equipment and processes related to preparation and chemical processing of radioisotopes. In addition, this role will support technical program development at Nusano by documenting processes and workflows. As the project transitions to operations, the Radiochemistry Technical Writer will play a key role in working with the scientific, engineering, and operations staff to document operating procedures and practices. This role will be a part of the Systems Engineering team and will report to the Systems Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

• Interact with Nusano scientific, technical, and engineering staff to gather and document technical requirements and specifications, assembly and test procedures, and verification reports for Nusano radiochemistry equipment and components
• Synthesize existing and new documentation into comprehensive engineering standards, conventions and best practices for engineering design in accelerator and radiation environments, Nusano engineering quality, specialty sub-system design and test, and engineering program workflows and training to be used across Nusano’s engineering and technical teams
• Assist in generating templates, fillable forms, and workflow documentation for Nusano’s internal engineering quality program. Help establish a filing system for storage, approval, and retrieval of quality documentation.
• Generate technical descriptions of systems and processes to be used in communication to vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders
• Work closely with the radiochemistry equipment designers and equipment operators to generate standard operating procedures, maintenance and troubleshooting guidance, and training to fully document Nusano accelerator operations
• Distill facility design considerations from radiation and regulatory experts and construction specifications into concise facility requirements to share with the general contractor, vendors, and other stakeholders to communicate project priorities

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree from accredited university
• 3 years of technical writing in a relevant field
• Experience with technical writing of hardware documentation
• Ability to generate high quality documentation with attention to detail
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical ideas and translate them into easily understandable text and pictures
• Excellent written and oral communication (including presentation) skills and proficiency with standard MS Office tools

Preferred Requirements:

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
• Experience in chemistry, radiochemistry, or physics-related research, especially particle accelerator and reactor-based radioisotope development
• Experience working directly with scientists, engineers, or technicians
• Experience working in quality management systems or with ISO 9000 standard series of documentation
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM or other CAD packages
• Experience with configuration management and document management software

Physical Requirements:

• Must be comfortable working in a facility that produces radiation.
• Work to be conducted in both an office environment and the production facility.
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Frequent use of computer with repetitive use of keyboard, mouse and manual dexterity
• <10% Travel
