Reporting to the Superintendent,the Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer will manage the PSM program for the Nutrien - Augusta site. This position has a wide range of authority for decision making with minimal supervision while coordinating the site wide PSM activities. The incumbent has direction setting authority for activities that are often new in nature to the site. The incumbent shall demonstrate and promote safety awareness with a personal attachment to safety on and off-the-job.
What you will do:
- Coordinate site-wide PSM activities to ensure technical support to the Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, other site departments
- Advise site management on all PSM issues and recommended solutions
- Establish short and long-term PSM program strategies and goals for the continual improvement of site PSM performance
- Assist department employees in the review of all plant process additions, modifications, construction, and operations for compliance with Company PSM policy and regulatory requirements
- Act as system administrator for management of change (MOC) and incident reporting/corrective action tracking software programs
- Ensure site PHA Facilitators consistently adhere to regulatory and corporate requirements by leading / managing / providing the required training in HazOps, SIL, SRS, and SIS
- Ensure incident investigations are conducted per corporate and site requirements
- Ensure and manage PSM corrective actions developed from Incident Investigations, PHAs, and audits are aimed at reducing or eliminating process and physical hazards
- Stay informed of new or pending PSM regulations and methods of enforcement and inspections by regulatory agencies
- Assist other Nitrogen sites to apply PSM principles by providing technical expertise, site PSM policies and procedures and performing PSM focused audits
What you will bring:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or related sciences
- 5 years of PSM work experience in a PSM covered process or industry.
- It is preferred the incumbent:
- Have a good understanding of manufacturing operations.
- Have a strong knowledge of the OSHA standards and regulations
- Possess technical and intellectual horsepower for problem-solving.
- Staying informed of new and innovative process safety and risk technologies.
- Be action-oriented, creative, and able to deal with ambiguity.
- Be resourceful, well-organized, possess the ability to plan strategically, and deal effectively with various departments, outside contractors and consultants.
