Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York.
Purpose : The Exercise Physiologist will primar il y be responsible for assisting the Cardiac Nurse in the daily operations of the out-patient Cardiac Rehab program. Aids patients with their exercise programs including the performance of health risk assessments, orientat ing new patients, and training new patients by providing hands on guidance . Develops, coordinates and implements exercise related programs for both monitored and unmonitored patients . Population served based on scope of services in the department .
Essential Responsibilities
Develops, coordinates and implements exercise related programs for both monitored and fitness patients based on patient population and Individualized Treatment Plans.
Develops and updates Individualized Treatment Plan s , based on best practice guidelines, f o r all patients utilizing patients test results, physicians recommendation and information attained during in-take interview.
Updates Individualized Treatment Plans according to established best practices.
Assists in the clinical oversight and modification of exercise programs for all patients at all risk levels.
Responsible for directing and instructing patients through exercises , providing educational materials and educating patients o n fitness and health .
Monitor s EKG rhythm and documents EKG rhythm strip, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Document s incidents of patient complaints and/or medical conditions, requiring follow-up by the clinical team.
Provides on-going education to all program members regarding safe, appropriate use of equipment and execution of activities.
Maintains responsibility for providing support functions to team-members and other related duties.
Attends all department meetings, and actively participates on a regular basis.

Performs other duties as required .
Education and Experience Requirements:
Masters degree in Exercise Physiology .
Minimum two (2) years experience in a healthcare environment .
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
Proficient in EKG telemetry reading.
Strong organization and customer service skills.
Working knowledge of a PC and medical terminology.
Demonstrates willingness to assist co-workers and/or to accept additional assignments as requested to support the departments efficiency as observed by the Director.
Understanding of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) treatment guidelines.
License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
Basic Life Suppor t ( BLS ) c ertification .
PREFER: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
