NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting a GIS Analyst to work in a remotely distributed team. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience applying geospatial technologies and analytic methodologies to natural resource problems. The analyst must have exceptional communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and be able to work well in a remote team environment.
Responsibilities
- Collects, processes, and analyzes spatial data
- Develops cartographic map products, reports, and data inventories
- Develops metadata in FGDC and ISO formats
- Reviews and extracts spatial information from scientific study reports
- Populates enterprise GIS databases with spatial and non-spatial data through digitizing, key entry or other Extract, Transform, Load procedures
- Uses technology (such as Model Builder or Python) to automate workflows
- Interacts with external clients in technical solution development and providing technical assistance
- Interviews scientists to gather information from scientific studies
- Assists in the development of user acceptance criteria and user acceptance tests for mapping applications
- Writes technical documents
- Prepares models, diagrams and technical documentation for GIS applications, GIS databases, metadata and operating procedures
- Prepares training material for end users including graphics and step-by-step instructions for maintaining GIS solutions
- Follows quality control procedures to ensure a high degree of data consistency, integrity, and accuracy
- Minimal travel required; less than 10% of time
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in physical or natural science, geography, engineering, planning, computer science or a related field
- Two years of experience using Esri ArcGIS software to manage and analyze data
- Experience in technical writing
- QA/QC experience
- U.S. Citizenship required to comply with government contracts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Marine or Environmental Sciences
- Professional certification in Geographic Information Systems
- 3 years or more applying GIS to natural resource management
- Excellent communication, team-work and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with relational database management systems and enterprise environments
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies
- Familiarity with web-based mapping applications
The pay range for this position in Colorado is $26.44- $28.84 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
