We are seeking a Traffic Engineer who will work on transportation planning and traffic engineering projects for our Traffic Services Group in our Alpharetta, GA office. The preferred candidate will have a traffic engineering background with technical skills in traffic analysis and design and will provide technical expertise on traffic engineering issues for planning and design of transportation and development infrastructure throughout the Carolinas and across the southeast region.
Responsibilities
NV5 is seeking a full-time Traffic Engineer in our Alpharetta, GA office. The Traffic Engineer will manage and work on projects in the Traffic Services Group including:Traffic operations and safety analysis.
- Traffic signal, ITS, and lighting design
- Signing and striping design
- Construction/work zone traffic control design
- Prepare technical reports and construction plans for traffic elements
- Coordinate with other disciplines, clients, and sub-consultants
- Mentor and train staff to expand technical expertise
- Prepare proposals and contract
- Represent NV5 at professional functions
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
- A Master’s degree in transportation planning and/or engineering (a plus).
- 6 - 10 years of experience.
- Knowledge of industry standard traffic engineering techniques, reference materials, and design criteria.
- Knowledge of NCDOT and other public agency design methods and procedures.
- Experience with Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/Sim Traffic, Sidra, Vissim or similar analysis tools.
- Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D, MicroStation or similar CADD design tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Creative problem solver.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Availability for occasional overnight travel.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- PTOE and/or AICP, a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
