Job Description

The Ideal Candidate:
  • You possess excellent horse handling skills and ideally have at least two years of prior experience working in the sport horse industry.
  • You are Motivated, dependable, and organized, have a strong work ethic and a love for equine athletes and the people they come with!
  • You are comfortable longeing and jogging horses in hand throughout the day and are familiar with equine restraint techniques for different procedures.
  • You understand the importance of clear & effective communication among clients and team members.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
  • Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.
  • One Weeknight on call rotating weekends.
Oakridge consists of 4 board-certified surgeons and 1 internal medicine specialist and a robust caseload of sports medicine, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, medicine, and emergency medicine cases. Interns will be provided an excellent opportunity to learn from a diverse skill set of senor clinician with several year of combine experience. Each intern will be paired with a senior clinician on a rotating basis to maximize exposure to a variety of case. Duties include assisting with outpatient diagnostics, lameness and sports medicine exams, surgical assistance, and assisting in the daily care of the assigned senior clinicians in-house patients. If more than 4 interns are selected, rotation will also include time spent on field service and performing anesthesia. Most after-hours treatments are performed by a technician. On average, each intern will enjoy 2 nights off per week and 2 weekends off per month.

We have a wide-range referral base encompassing all of Oklahoma, and extending into Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. Caseload consists primarily of Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred, with disciplines ranging from racing and rodeo to pleasure riding. We offer clients a high-field MRI provide the best possible care for our patients. Other specialty therapies include stem cell, regenerative laser, platelet-rich plasma, IRAP, shockwave, AO/ASIF fracture fixation, and many other cutting-edge surgical, medical and sports medicine therapies.
