The Director of Hospice is responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the department including growth and financial performance. The Director of Hospice is responsible for the employment, training and development of qualified hospice personnel, the provision of hospice services, for coordination and oversight of hospice personnel evaluations. The Director of Hospice establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote our standards of quality and contribute to the total growth of the organization.

What will you be doing?

  • Meet or exceed budgeted revenue on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Maintain full responsibility of the overall functions of the financial areas and cost controls of the department, adhere to fiscal and accounting policies and procedures and manage expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Provides quality leadership that supports the mission, strategic and business objectives of the organization; creates a dynamic environment that promotes quality care through supervision and professional development.
  • Ensures that all patient care and management activities comply with Medicare, Medicaid and other third party payers, as well as state and federal guidelines and all compliance standards.
  • Sets positive, attainable expectations, measurable short and long-term objectives and goals for clinical managers within the organization that promotes opportunity for personal, professional and organizational growth. Empowers others through coaching, shared responsibility and accountability.
  • Develops a leadership culture that supports collaboration and teamwork. Enforces professional standards, policy and procedures and uses conflict /dispute resolution approaches that produce win-win solutions.
  • Provides supervision, guidance and direction to the department in all matters relating to the delivery of community-based services to assure that quality standards are maintained and clinical metrics are achieved.

What we’re looking for in you:

  • Experience as a manager and leader in Hospice space
  • Superior leadership, interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Excellent analytical ability
  • Proficient computer skills; Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook .
  • Working knowledge electronic medical record required, Brightree / MatrixCare a plus.
  • Handle work under pressure
  • Adhere to the Norwell VNA Corporate Compliance Program in the prevention of fraud and abuse.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Eight (8 ) years community health experience
  • Five (5) years of Management and Supervisory experience.
  • Recent Hospice experience
  • Knowledge of hospice regulations and eligibility required.
