POSITION SUMMARY: Performs tasks related to the quality of the patient’s environment, including: cleaning function of an assigned area, ordering and stocking of supplies, and the transporting of patients, supplies, specimens and equipment. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: High School graduate or equivalent desired. Must be able to read and write. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: None WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: Clinical setting. Exposure Class I, routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium work: standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. WORK CONTACT GROUP: All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, and various regulatory and professional agencies. SUPERVISED BY: Coordinator, Manager, Director SUPERVISES: None CAREER PATH: Unspecified General Performance Criteria: Patient Support Technician Expectations Exceeds Meet Below · Adheres to hospital infection control policies. · Utilizes appropriate safety measures to protect self, patient and staff. · Communicates effectively with all levels of staff, patients and families. · Utilizes Material Safety Data Sheets within the service. · Maintains confidentiality related to patients, staff and visitors. · Participates in Performance Improvement activities. · Performs quality control and quality assurance activities as directed by the Unit Manager. · Works with Associates and Unit Manager to maintain appropriate staffing to meet patient care activities. · Remains readily available to assist the operating room staff and PACU staff with patient care needs. · Cooperates with other staff to insure a safe, clean environment. · Assumes responsibilities for the following policies related to: Pay Range: $16.15-$22.60 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
