The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH)'s Bureau of Hepatitis, HIV, and Sexually Transmitted Infections (BHHS) oversees the City's response to viral hepatitis, HIV, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Across a range of programs and through extensive collaboration with other parts of NYC DOHMH and external stakeholders, BHHS leads testing initiatives; prevention, care, and treatment programming; epidemiology and surveillance; research and evaluation; training and technical assistance; community engagement; social marketing; policy advocacy; and racial equity and social justice initiatives. The HIV Epidemiology Program is seeking to hire a Clerical Associate level IV to provide data entry support to the data support unit. The HIV Epidemiology Program (HEP), within the Bureau of BHHS, conducts HIV surveillance, among other functions, and therefore is responsible for generating the accurate case counts and complete descriptive data on diagnoses, clinical status, laboratory test results, and mortality that are needed to monitor the epidemic trajectory and guide public health action and decision-making. As such, the program contributes critically to citywide efforts to end the HIV epidemic. These core activities are required under and supported by a cooperative agreement with the CDC for HIV Surveillance and Prevention, and are supported by several other federal grants, including the federal End the HIV Epidemic funding.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

Maintain computerized tracking systems;
Assist in the data entry of the Provider Report Form into database system;
Assist in the processing of newly diagnosed cases from field surveillance activities;
Assist in secure all documents to process newly and previous reported cases;
Assist with other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qual Requirements

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Preferred Skills

Proficient in Microsoft office: PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word;
Good communication skills, purchasing experience;
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 keys strokes (30 words per minute).
