What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Architect position at NYCM?
The Software Architect is responsible for the architectural guidance and consultation on all assigned software development initiatives of NYCM Insurance. The Software Architect will develop, document and prototype architectural designs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create and document architectural designs
- Resolve software design disputes and make tradeoffs on Architecture decisions
- Provide architectural guidance and consultation of software development initiatives
- Mentor developers on the use and purpose of sound architectural designs
- Review projects and establish architectural requirements
- Ensure that proposed and existing systems that promote the corporate direction for software architectures and the connectivity between systems
- Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
- Manage and identify risks in our systems that require architectural changes to be mitigated
- Document the company's existing systems architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives
- Keep abreast of the latest industry trends in software design and software development practices and strategies
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Associates degree
- 5 years of relevant experience working in the P&C insurance industry
- 5 years hands on experience in building state of the art applications using multiple languages and experience in building database designs
- 2 years of experience in providing frequent technical guidance to others on software development strategies

- Working knowledge with all facets of software development life cycle
- Expert in building modern multi-tier applications

Payband 7M Exempt / 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $73,409 - $161,789
